Plan your journey

Allow extra travel time

High volumes of holiday traffic are expected approaching and through Coffs Harbour during peak travel periods.

Work on the Coffs Harbour bypass will pause from Friday 20 December 2024 to Monday 6 January 2025 inclusive to reduce impact during the busy holiday period. However, the current reduced speed limit of 60km/h for the project will remain in place throughout the shutdown period.

For details about known holiday traffic pinch points, see the NSW Holiday and Journey planning website and the pinch point journey planning tool.

Changed traffic conditions for the Coffs Harbour bypass will be in place from Monday 28 January to Saturday 1 February, weather permitting.

  • Single lane closure on the Pacific Highway northbound and southbound carriageway and contraflow arrangements on one of the carriageways at times, between James Small Drive (north) and south of the Luke Bowen pedestrian bridge on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 6pm and 7am

For the safety of cyclists and workers, the project will temporarily close the Pacific Highway southbound shoulder between James Small Drive north and south. From Tuesday, cyclists are advised to use James Small Drive to ride south. This temporary detour will be in place until early 2026.

Motorists will see extra truck movements daily as part of the construction project and the delivery of concrete girders. Please allow additional travel time. A temporary speed of 60km/h will remain in place through the project work zone.
